The Bristol just by the Elysée Palace is somewhere kids can really relax and enjoy the deluxe living. In my daughter's words, "You know you have to be well behaved but there is no one snopping and keeping an eye on you. I think it is like staying at Grand Ma's." Not that my mother lives in this style!
The rooms are big and there are many interconnecting suites, including two with roof terraces. There is an excellent child-friendly gourmet rstaurant the 114, where President Sarkozy used to dine en famille, and a special Japanese breakfast. Very young foodies will love sampling the special menu created by chef Eric Frechon at the bar of Le Jardin Français, or from room service.
Kids love the hotel cat, being greeted like a VIP, the lovely cuddly bunnie on their beds and the bunny shaped biscuits next to their bed. The children's topiletries pack was a massive hit with our brood. The will love letting off steam in the roof top swimming pool and fall for the old-fashioned Punch and Judy show just moments away on the Champs-Elysées.
Adagio Apartments Tour Eiffel
14 Rue du Théâtre, 75015; 01 45 71 88 88; www.adagio-city.com
My jaw fell open when I walked into our room in this apart-hotel. It's in a tower bloc west of the Eiffel Tower and offers unbeatable views across the city. Our room looked east and I even put the alarm on so I could watch the sunrise over Paris.
One of the big draw backs about travel with kids is that they either need to go to bed early or you can't get them up in the morning and as a result you can feel you are misssing out. Not here. The sightseeing goes on even in the apartment as you wonder at the beauty of the city as you stir the pasta for dinner.
This hotel offers unbeatble value apartments for up to six people each kitted out with a kitchenette with a microwave. There is a laundry room and a small swimming pool. There is also a car park under the hotel.
All Season Bercy
77 rue de Bercy, 75012; 01 53 46 50; www.all-seasons-hotels.com
This is the best family budget option in Paris and to boot it is on the edge of Bercy Park, a moden park on the edge of the Seine. It's is especially good for young familes as the small rooms are divided into two for a family of four.
It's basic but at the price that is no surprise but like the rest of the Accor group it's family friendly. Decor is all primary colours which are big in France at the moment in schools and kids groups. For kids there is a welcome box, Disney Channel, games room, high chairs and changing mats. The breakfast is surprisingly good for a hotel of this class. The hotel is a short walk to Bercy Village that has lots of family friendly cafes and restaurants.
